Is there anything better than having your kids visit when they live far away. I'll answer that- NO! My oldest daughter is visiting from Seattle this week and I can't tell you how happy it makes me to have her home. Life is very different when they get out of college and have real jobs. No more summers off and no more week long breaks for them to visit. I am going to cherish ever second of her 5 day visit!!!
I'm still pondering the question I asked in my post on Monday :
How is it possible to clean out a pantry every 3 to 4 months and every single time find one or two items that expired years ago? Where do these items come from or where were they hiding the last time I cleaned it out? How did I miss them??
I don't understand how the summer vacation can fly by and the school year seems to crawl. At least I hope it crawls this year!
Monday was the first day of school for our youngest daughter. She's a senior this year. After 21 years, this was my last, first day of school. I'm very proud of the fact that I didn't cry at all as she got ready for school and headed out the door, I didn't cry when she wouldn't let me take her picture and I didn't even cry as she drove away. The tear didn't hit me until mid afternoon when I was picking up a pair of her shoes from the back hall. It hit me then that in one more year, I won't have any shoes left in odd places. My nest will be empty after 27 years! That's when I had a good cry!
