Most Random Tuesday EVER!!!

randomtuesday
I have the best random thing for Random Tuesday EVER and it will never be topped, by anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a total exaggeration but it's my blog!
We have lived in our current house for 9 years. It's actually the longest I've ever lived in the same house in my entire life. Anyway, my daughter had 2 friends come over to do homework after school today. One of them, Matt, says wait a second, this is the house that my parents designed and had built. I lived here from birth to age 5. He called his mom who asked him if it was like he remembered and did he get to see his favorite place, the secret room........WHAT SECRET ROOM??????????? There's no secret room!!!!!!!! Oh yes there is. There is a secret room that we didn't even know about. It has a hidden door and best of all.......It's all finished and is an extra hidden huge walk in CLOSET near our bedroom!!!!!!  I have walked past it and stood by it and never would have found it.

We are the 4th owners of this house in 17 years and I know that the people who we bought it from didn't know about the room because they had a huge piece of furniture against that wall. It's been sealed and untouched for at least 13 years.

I've always known that there was dead space there. There are quite a few places in this house where there is dead space behind the walls. Closets that don't go as far back as the wall of the adjoining room. etc. ( I asked the first owners and this is the only secret space) The freaky thing is that a couple of weeks ago, I told my husband that there was a 9 foot by 6 foot space inside this one wall ( I'd measured with a measuring tape, I was serious about my idea.) and we should make a secret little safe room there for when he goes out of town and I am all alone in the house. Guess where I wanted to put a secret room, Yep, IN the secret room... HAHA.  One of my friends said too bad I didn't find it when the kids were little. I could have put a little fainting couch, a small fridge stocked with water and wine,  and a small book shelf filled with books. I could have told the kids that we were going to play hide and seek and then hidden in my little room for a 30 minute break from kids. How great would that have been???? Bummer, but at least we know about it now!!!!!!!!!!
Admit it. This is really random and fantastic!!!!

While this can't be topped, here are a few other random thoughts.
Why is it that a few people out there drive 20 MPH in a 30 MPH zone and it's always when I am late and in a hurry? Seriously people, you don't have to speed but at least go the speed limit.  It's usually people trying to find a specific street so they go really slow and then slow down even more to try and read the street sign. The street names are in alphabetical order, it's not that tough! I wish I had one of those push bars on the front of my car like a cop does so that I could just push them (ram) from behind as encouragement.

A friend of mine just got a new computer and it has Windows 7 on it, the new operating system that doesn't come out for another week.  She said it's a lot like a Mac interface in the way it looks and behaves. The problem is that it's still windows and not as good as a Mac.

Why don't I have a cloak of invisibility like a friend of mine has. She can go flying past a speed trap going 15 or 20 over and they never see her or pull her over. If I go 5 over, I'm getting a ticket. So not fair. Then again as I say to my kids, "Whoever told you that life was fair, LIED, so get over it and deal." You can tell that I'm a kind and supportive mom.

OMGosh, I can't believe after all this time we had a secret room that was a huge secret to us!!!  Sorry to revisit but I'm really excited!!!

Do you have any random thought's you'd like to share? If so write bout them on your blog and then head on over to The Unmom and post your link with Mr. Linky! You know you want to!

As a child I would daydream about finding a secret room in our house. Yes, it doesn't take much for me to admit that I think that is awesome! What are you going to do with it?

I'm pretty excited about Windows 7.

And hey, I complained about drivers, well, woman drivers in my random today too!

I'm pretty excited to drive by cops going over the speed limit. I can't help it!

Cool, a secret room, but now your kids know about it, so you don't anywhere to hide!! But, you also have extra closet space!! Stopping by from Speaking From The Crib. Love your blog!

Wow! That is soooo cool and so exciting about finding the secret room! What are the odds of one of the original residents coming to visit and letting you know about it?! That's amazing!

I totally agree about the slow drivers when we're in a hurry...seems like it happens every time!

A secret room? How cool is that? I need a secret room. . . seriously! But if it competes with closet space - that might be an issue.

If I ever get to design my own home, there would be all kinds of secret spaces. I'd like the bookcase door, built-ins that look like walls, and a cool passageway for the kids. You're house has passed from sweet to very, very cool. Congratulations!
