It's Tuesday and thankfully, I'm out of bed and feeling better. I was sick all last week and now am so far behind that all I want to do is climb back in bed and hide. Since that's not going to happen, I guess I'll just buckle down and get it all done.
Want to get random, go over to The Unmom and link up your own randomness.
Why didn't I put the outside lights up the day after Thanksgiving when it was 68 degrees out? It's 4 degrees right now and it's supposed to get up to 8 degrees today. We are supposed to get a warm up into the 40's this weekend so I'll have to wait until then. I just want my garland and red bows up-----NOW!!!!!!
I did get the wreath on my car today though! I'm a Christmas freak.
I really don't mind at all when my hubby gives me a list of things to take care of, especially when he is going to be out of town. I'll gladly run errands and take care of things....on my schedule. Give me a list, but I don't like the timing to be dictated. I know he wants it done, but I'm fitting it into the things I need to do so it might not get done until Friday at 3pm but by golly, it'll be done before he gets home. I hate the phone calls on Monday night asking if I got them done. Nope sure didn't. I know it stresses him out so today I'll get it all done so I can alleviate his stress level but really. Can you tell I'm grumpy today!!! LOL
The baking has barely begun and Christmas is 17 days away. UGHHHHHH. I lost a week and I can't get it back. Every time I open my pantry the 35 pounds of flour and 30 pounds of sugar taunts me to get to it. The fridge holds 24 pounds of butter that's doing the same. I can't wait to start but there are so many things that need to be done. Like the 300 ice scrapers and 300 pairs of gloves that are sitting in my garage waiting to be wrapped and delivered to the teachers some time in the next week and a half.
I will say that yesterday afternoon, I got home and was so tired that I sat down to eat an early dinner, began knitting and didn't move from the chair until it was time for bed. I have to get my son-in-law to be's stocking done so that it can be hanging on the mantle when they get here in 3 weeks. I really did need to be knitting, but it did feel a bit like slacking off, knitting in front of a crackling fire, snow falling outside, my Christmas tree lights turned on, a cup of cocoa (yes, with homemade marshmallows) and some Bing on the stereo. OK, maybe it was a bit of both but it's a beautiful thing when needs and wants can be the same thing.
I hope that your needs and wants come together this week for you, too!!!

I LOVE the Bing Crosby Christmas CD. My favorite song on there is White Christmas. Man, you have a lot of baking supplies so I would love to be watching you bake! I just made your cocoa mix recipe this weekend and sent some off to my college kids in a care package...I can't wait to see what they think of it. Thanks for sharing that recipe...it was yummy!
You're going to be doing a lot of baking with all that flour and sugar! I'm sure it will all be delicious.
As my dad used to say, "It's colder than a brass toilet seat on the shady side of an iceberg."
Your wreath on your car reminds me of a car my wife and I saw with antlers attached to the sides of the windows (way too cute).
Hope you get your decorations up and don't freeze in the process.
Thank you for your randomness,
24 lbs of butter? Holy holiday baking, Batman!
Although I thank you for giving me the next Spin Cycle idea! Make sure you come to my site on Friday, I'm giving you credit!
Okay, after reading your blog I feel like a baking wimp.
I admire the way you combined your needs and wants. I need to learn to do that.
30 pounds of sugar and 24 pounds of butter!?! what the space balls?!? that's a lot of calories! but baking is way to much fun:)
Happy Randomness!!! Check out mine!
I'm looking forward to a big baking spree myself!!!
The way you spent your yesterday knitting by the fire sounds like the perfect day to me!
So what are you planning to bake? That is a lot of baking. I don't think I would even be able to start. I would be too intimidated by all those ingredients.
Wow, you do have your work cut out for you with all those ingredients and the gifts inthe garage. It's so nice to hear that you aren't grumpy about it and were able to sit down for a moment and truly enjoy the holiday season.
That vision of you knitting by a warm fire in front of the decorated tree sounds like the perfect Christmas scene! What could be more festive than that?
i am pretty much the same way as far as husband lists are concerned. i think i drive my husband batty - he calls throughout the day and asks me, too. i always get everything done in time, though. when will they learn to trust us??? ha ha ha.
You have a wreath on your car? I'm impressed.
I would love to buy those reindeer antlers and red nose for my car :)
