Random Tuesday

It's my favorite time of the week, Random Tuesday. Hop on over the Keely's blog, The Un MOM to click on a few links to other Randomness!

If you want a good laugh, check out this site The people of Walmart.  Heather over at My Red Apron  told me about it.

My 20 year old came down with the piggy flu yesterday! I went and picked her up from her apartment to come infect our house. Actually I've quarantined her far away from the rest of the family so hopefully the rest of us won't come down with it. The problem with adult children, who have their own lives, coming home is that they have pets that have to come too. This adds 2 little, hard to call them dogs even, animals to our house.   I really don't like little dogs.

This is homecoming week at our high school. My baby daughter has 2 dates. Yep 2. One is a real date, a darling boy she is seeing and the other is a boy who has to ask someone, in front of half the school, to homecoming as part of a competition and asked if he could ask her. He didn't have any one he really wanted to go to the dance with and she is his friend so she said yes. He does want to take her shopping to help her pick the outfit she's going to wear when he asks her at the contest. Hummmmm, I wonder why he didn't have any girl he wanted to ask. Thankfully, they both know that the public ask is fake. Still it's nice for a girl to be asked by one boy let alone two.

My baby daughter walked out into the garage to leave for school this morning and there was a dead mouse right by her car. She screamed like a person was out there ready to kill her and came running inside yelling about a dead  mouse. Since I don't mind mice and have even caught live ones with nary a squeal, I told her to suck it up, it was dead, and that she was going to be late for school. Sympathetic huh! She informed me that she was not going into the garage until the mouse was out of there.  Mom to the rescue!!!!  I got a broom and swept it onto a snow shovel to throw it out into the field. I swept the dead little body onto the shovel and had walked about 4 feet when the dang thing started squeaking, stood up and tried to run off the shovel!!!!! OMGosh was it taking a nap and I disturbed it? The dang dead animal making noise and starting to move startled me so badly that I screamed really loudly. I'm surprised my neighbors didn't come out of their houses.  Of course, as soon as I screamed, my daughter started screaming from inside the house. I start laughing and trying to keep the mouse balanced on the shovel while running as far away from the house as I could get before the stupid thing ran off the edge. It was like something out of a cartoon.

My baby will be 18 this week. I swear she was just born a couple of years ago. I know you've heard it a million times but, they grow up so fast. Now I just have to figure out who I want to be when I grow up, and that would be in 10 months. Crap I've got to figure it out.

I hope your daughter feels better very soon! And, that the rest of your family stays healthy.

Isn't it amazing how fast they grow up?! My daughter just turned 18 in July.

Ok...that Walmart blog/site is hilarious and scarry at the same time. Kinda makes me afraid to go to Walmart again. lol

Who was more startled - you or the mouse? I hope your daughter feels better soon - and that the rest of you don't get it! Love peopleofwal-mart.com. I keep thinking that I'll see someone I know on there.

As for what you are going to be when you grow up - It seems like you can do almost anything!

My little man is only 2.5, but I can already see how quickly the years slip by! 18 is a huge step.

And I would totally scream if I saw a dead mouse too.

Happy random Tuesday!

Awww...what a great mom you are! Taking care of sick kids and chasing mice away:-) A similar thing happened to me recently but the frog was in the car. I was downstairs and screamed...my girls started screaming from upstairs just imagining something horrible! You're right...they grow up way too fast!

Sure, make me giggle like a wild woman while reading your story about the "dead" mouse and make my coworkers suspicious.

And oh.. that Walmart site is like a train wreck, I just can't stop looking! (one more... just ONE more page)
