Monday's Household Assigments- Bloggers being sued and Disclosure Policies

Last October the Federal Trade Commission set it's sites on Bloggers and anyone who endorses a product. You'd think that they'd have bigger fish to fry,  but for now they're watching me, you and any other bloggers out there who are trying to misrepresent themselves or products they talk about. To learn more about the new rules head over to Blog Disclosure Policy.org to learn more.

In addition to the FTC, have you ever considered that you could be sued for something that you've written on your blog? It's been happening with more and more frequency. Try Googling "Blogger sued" and you will find page after page of lawsuits file against bloggers for everything from slander,
using photos without permission to a negative book review.
As a blogger, you need to make sure you are not making statements that could come back to haunt you later, in the form of a lawsuit. Last week I found a wonderful resource for Bloggers.
Please take the time to go to that site and read through it. Knowledge is key in this arena. In this litigious age you need to be careful.

In keeping with these new rules, here are new MY Disclosure Policies.
  • This is a personal blog written and edited by yours truly, me this blog's owner!
  • All opinions are mine alone.
  • This blog does not accept any form of cash payments in exchange for product reviews or posts. I do accept and keep products, given to me for free, from companies and organizations, to review and giveaway. These free items are usually in the form of the product that I'm reviewing/giving away.
  • All items and products that are for review and/or giveaway have been provided to me by a sponsor and will NEVER be exchanged for a positive review. If I don't like a product, I will either not post a review or I will give the sponsor the option of me posting a negative review.  I will always give my honest opinions in my reviews. Any compensation that I receive will NEVER influence content.
Postings may not be current: The information on the blog may be changed without notice and is not guaranteed to be complete, correct or up to date.
External links: Links to external sources are provided solely as a courtesy to our blog visitors. We are not responsible for and do not endorse or warrant in any way any materials, information, goods or services available through such linked sites or any privacy or other practices of such sites.
Amazon link: Facts From A Fact Woman is an Amazon associate. What does this mean? It means that if you click on any Amazon link here on my blog and you purchase something, I receive a small portion of your purchase price as thanks from Amazon for sending you.
Existing relationships: I occasionally post about immediate family members or friends. If family or friends comments on a product or service are mentioned in a review/giveaway, having tried a product, they have not been paid for these posts either, they are merely their own opinions.
Comments: Any comments made by you or any third party on this blog are your/ their comments and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of this blogger and I will not be held responsible for their comments. I reserve the right to delete any comment that in my opinion should not be posted.
Product/Service Liability:
If I claim or appear to be an expert on a certain topic or product or service area, know that I may imagine that I am, but I am not! I do however endorse products or services that, based on my experience,  I believe are worthy of an endorsement. All product representation,  claims, statistics,  or quote about a product or service should be verified with the original manufacturer or provider. This blog owner (and my family members or friends who may have had input on a review/giveaway) will not be responsible for or held liable for any adverse reactions, injury or death resulting from any product reviewed and/or given away on this blog. I also encourage you to consult a doctor about, or research any products or services mentioned on this blog, if you have any concerns or hesitation on using/consuming any product.
Advice and Tips Liability: If I claim or appear to be an expert on a certain topic or product or service area, know that I may imagine that I am, but I am not! I do however give advice and ideas based on my own experience. What works for me may not necessarily work for you so try them AT YOUR OWN RISK. I will not be responsible for or held liable for any adverse reactions, injury or death resulting from any advice or suggestions or ideas given on this blog. I also encourage you to consult a doctor about, or research any topic or technique mentioned on this blog, f you have any concerns or hesitation on using any advice found here.
Feel free to copy and use any part of this disclaimer for yourself if you would like. I again am not responsible if you get sued and this doesn't hold up in court. I'm not a lawyer! Use at your own risk. LOL-  I think this covers at least part of my butt.
