Friday Fragments- Christmas Stockings are a joke, I'm a finalist for Pillsbury and what is that powder in your car!

Ok, you have all heard that I am one of the finalists in the Pillsbury Crescent  Contest and are sick of it already but I am still so excited and would love your vote! Click the button below to vote. You can vote one a day and each vote will enter you to win $5000 for yourself!! YOu can even choose not to get any emails from them!! Thanks!! Now onto fragments!

My son is dating a lovely woman and it must be getting serious because he asked for the website where the Christmas stocking patterns are sold. When we first got married my mom made us Christmas stocking and then she made them for our 4 kids. When our extra son Kevin came along, I picked up the knitting of the stockings. Last year when my daughter got engaged I asked my now son-in-law to pick out a stocking he'd like. He picked the stupidest looking elf. I asked if that was the one he really wanted, it was so I made it.  At Christmas the kids were laughing at how dumb it was and pointing out the funny features on the others. It was at that moment that I  realized what I looked at as a wonderful. sweet, tender, family tradition was looked on by ALL of my children as a huge Joke and a competition to see who could have the funniest looking stocking. So much for tear jerking traditions- unless of course they're tears of laughter! Figures!!! Here are the stocking.
I still think they're sweet! I should stop knitting them but then their fun would be over!!

I was reading the paper this morning and there was an article about a traffic stop in Wyoming. When the police searched the car, they found drug paraphernalia (I love spell check), marijuana, prescription meds that weren't theirs and tucked in the center console they found a Crowne Royal bag containing a ziplock bag filled with a powdery substance. Want to guess what it was? Yep!! It was Grandma or her ashes at least!! I bet she's thrilled to be in a baggie in her druggy grandsons center console.  Seriously, you can't make stuff like this up!

Have a great weekend and head on over to Half Past Kissing Time to fragment your Friday!

Friday Fragments- Summer's speeding by!

I can't believe that it's the end of July. Where in the world has the summer gone? I will tell you that the pile on my dining room table is an indication of how close to school we're getting. The larger the pile the closer to school.

The dining room  table is the college staging area for our youngest daughter. Her roommate had better like pink. Between all the pink and the Disney items, you'd think I was sending her off to elementary school not college. I commented on that last night and she said when it comes to decorating, she's still a 12 year old girl.

Did you see Jersey Shores last night? It's one of those shows that's a train wreck. You don't really want to watch but you have to. I find it horrifying and hilarious all at the same time.

I made zucchini bread and pumpkin bread last night. I had a slice of each toasted up for breakfast, they're so good!!!!!

I really need to dig out my knitting now that fall is within reach. I don't really knit during the summer for some reason. I have been looking at patterns to see what I'm going to work on. I do have a couple of mittens to finish up and 4 babies to make something for. All boys so I'm thinking hats. Any ideas?

A friend of mine just got back from Cambodia where their son has been for 2 years on a mission. Her post about picking him up made me cry.  Just thinking about how she felt hugging him after not seeing him for 2 years just makes me weepy. Head on over to her blog to cry for yourself.

I've got to get better about cooking for 2 people. It's just not as fun or as easy as cooking for a group. It's also hard to cut down recipes. I keep ending up with way too many leftovers.

Have a great weekend!
