Photo of the Day 20- Cupcake
There are few things better than chocolate and orange together and this cupcake has both! I think I showed amazing restraint to get the cupcakes home AND photographed before taking a bite or swiping some icing with my finger.
I went to a brand new cupcake shop today and will be posting my review of it a bit later. Until then, don't you wish this one was yours?

Photo of the Day 18
These flowers are growing by a cool tree stump and they reminded me that God can bring beauty when and where you least expect it.

Photo of the day 17- Fall is coming.
We decided to escape to the mountains for a couple of days before school starts. How is it possible that summer is almost over? I took a long walk in the woods this morning and saw these aspen leaves just starting to turn the golden yellow of autumn.
Summer must be over!

Photo of the day 16- Devastation
We headed up to our cabin and because of a road closure had to drive through the Brenckenridge area. I was shocked at how bad the pine bark beetle infestation is and how fast it is devastating the forests here in Colorado. state and federal officials forest service experts estimate that all of Colorado's mature lodgepole pine forests will be killed within three to five years.
The bark beetle infestation has already destroyed nearly 2 million acres.

Photo of the Day #9- Hummingbird and fiery sunset!
It was the perfect evening here in Colorado. The hummingbirds were buzzing all around and the sunset made the mountains look like they were on fire. This broad-tail posed for the perfect shot capturing this sunset.
We've had broad-tail hummingbirds since mid June this year, with 2 pairs that raised babies in our pine trees. The Calliope hummingbirds came in July. They're my favorite because they are so tiny and will land on your hand to feed. The Rufous hummingbirds arrived 2 weeks ago to stir up trouble and fights. I love summer evenings like these.
For more great photos, check out the other participants in the Photo of the month that Megan has going on, at The Bryon Life.

Photo of the Day #8- I love Tie Dying!!!
Yesterday my daughter and I tie dyed some baby items to give as gifts. She has a baby shower to attend tomorrow and I have a friend who just had a baby boy so we spent the afternoon folding tying and playing with colors. It was a blast! This morning we got to untie, rinse and wash the blankets, burp rags and onesies. It's just like Christmas, you never know exactly what it's going to look like until you unwrap it! This is the baby blanket that I made for my friend. I will be posting instructions on how to tie dye an 8 and 16 point mandala pattern like this soon. I hope she likes it!
